Robidoux nets 100th goal in season-opening win at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. -- Dana Robidoux joined exclusive company as Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse's 11th 100-goal scorer in the Blue Jays' season-opening 19-9 victory at Immaculata.

Robidoux scored four times in a game Elizabethtown led most of the way. Her century mark goal came off a feed from Addie Stang with 19:53 to play and put the Blue Jays up 14-5.

Stang, herself a member of the program's 100 career goal club (117), had a seven-point afternoon with four goals and three assists. Junior attack Carly Thompson also finished with seven points on a game-high five goals and two assists.

Elizabethtown wasted little time asserting itself against the Mighty Macs (0-1).

Robidoux won the opening draw control and the Jays struck for their first goal of the season just 55 seconds in when Stang found sophomore Madelyn Baker for the first of her three goals on the afternoon.

Immaculata's Brittany Whaley briefly tied the game, 1-1, at 26:51 of the first half, before Robidoux scored at 25:42 to start an 8-1 run for the visitors. Six different players had goals during the run: Baker, Allison McLamb, Robidoux, Stang, Carly Thompson (2) and Katie Thompson.

E-town led 10-4 at halftime and its lead grew as large as 11 goals in the second half.

Baker totaled four points, McLamb finished with a pair of goals and Megan DeMichele gave the Blue and Gray seven players with at least one point with a first half assist.

Elizabethtown held a commanding 39-13 shot advantage and protected possession well, committing just eight turnovers. The eight giveaways are the Blue Jays' fewest under fourth-year head coach Danielle Taylor and Thursday marked the first time E-town had committed less than 10 turnovers in a game since April 2, 2013, against Eastern --a span of 58 games.

Carly Thompson and McLamb led the team with three caused turnovers apiece as Immaculata turned the ball over 20 times. Katie Thompson had a pair of caused turnovers to cap a well-rounded afternoon that also saw her go for six points, a game-high five assists, six shots, two ground balls and three draw controls.

In goal, sophomore Abby Kopytko went the distance making three saves. Mighty Macs goalie Emily Schumann was busy at the other end, stopping 11 shots in a losing effort.

Elizabethtown is back in action next Wednesday at Gwynedd Mercy with a 4 p.m. start.
