WVB crushes SUNY Canton, Misericordia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Elizabethtown got contributions up and down its lineup Saturday in dominating 3-0 victories over SUNY Canton and Misericordia at the Lycoming Warrior Tip-Off Classic.

ELIZABETHTOWN 3, SUNY CANTON 0
25-7, 25-19, 25-10

The Blue Jays did not commit an attacking error in the first set and held SUNY Canton to just seven points in taking early control of the match.

Elle Shatto had 11 kills on 19 attempts from her spot at outside hitter, Gabby Anders assisted on 23 Blue Jay kills and Katie Kennedy accounted for three of Elizabethtown's nine aces in the victory.

E-town hit .706 in the first set with 12 kills on 17 attempts and was outstanding again in the third with 10 kills and one error on 19 attempts (.474). The result was a season-high .455 attacking percentage for the match (29-4-55).

SUNY Canton could only reply with 15 kills and 16 errors on 82 attempts (-.012).

Defensively, it was a pair of freshman paving the way for the Blue and Gray. Aiyana Tietze-Di Toro totaled a match-high 16 digs and middle hitter Marisa Krinock had five blocks (two solos) to go with three kills.

Sarah Schneider posted seven kills and Anders four.

ELIZABETHTOWN 3, MISERICORDIA 0
25-18, 25-21, 25-23

Misericordia put forth a spirited effort, but it was not enough to withhold the Blue Jays from their third straight victory.

Elizabethtown benefited from another quick start, putting down 14 kills and a .542 attacking percentage in a 25-18 opening set win. The Jays would emerge with hard-fought 25-21 and 25-23 wins in the second and third sets, respectively.

Sarah Schneider's 16 kills were her second most this season and led two E-town players in double figures. The Downingtown native was selected to the All-Tournament Team, despite the Jays only playing on the tournament's second day.

Elle Shatto added 13 and Morgan Reiss had six. Thirty-five of the Jays' 40 kills came from the trio.

Gabby Anders piled up 38 more assists and recorded four aces, both match-highs. Aiyana Tietze-Di Toro followed with three aces and her second straight 16-dig performance. Schneider collected eight digs.

Elizabethtown returns home, Tuesday, to face York (Pa.) for the second time this season. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
