Women's volleyball gets back in win column at LVC

ANNVILLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team broke a three-match winless streak with a commanding 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-14) win at Lebanon Valley Thursday evening.

The Blue Jays (11-6) attacked at a season best clip of .374 with 40 kills and just six erorrs on 91 attempts, while the Dutchmen struggled mightily all match. LVC hit in the negative in two of three sets and finished at .096 with 17 errors.

Mackenzie Garner and Sarah Schneider figured prominently into the win. Garner had a match-high 12 kills and four blocks, while Schneider added nine to go along with two aces, two block assists and six digs.

Elle Shatto also had nine kills and 11 digs for the Jays, Gabby Anders produced her 12th 30-plus assist match of the season with 36, and Aiyana Tietze-Di Toro posted 11 digs.

The Blue Jays did an excellent job with their serve receive, not allowing a single LVC ace. Subsequently, Elizabethtown furnished its first receiving error-free match since 2014 --a span of 85 matches.

Elizabethtown also got six kills from senior middle hitter Morgan Reiss and freshman Jenna Harne came on as a reserve to collect a pair of aces.

Lebanon Valley (11-8) did not have a single player reach double figures in kills or digs. Jess Attieh led the Dutchmen with eight kills and Abbey Barnhart had nine digs. Jensen Burnheimer assisted on 21 of LVC's 25 kills in the match.

E-town travels north to Williamsport for the Lycoming Tip-Off Classic, but will only be in action Saturday against SUNY Canton (12 p.m.) and Misericordia (2 p.m.).
