Six players contribute points as field hockey rolls past Goucher

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown made it two consecutive wins over Landmark opponents Saturday afternoon at Wolf Field with a commanding 4-0 win over Goucher. Six different players contributed to the scoring for the Blue Jays, including Emma Christman and Charity Good, who both finished with a goal and an assist to lead the Jays.

It took 21 minutes for the game's first goal, but once Charity Good's third of the season found the cage, Elizabethtown (7-7, 3-2 Landmark) unlocked the flood gates. Megan Eppley provided the assist on Good's goal.

Less than two minutes later, Emma Christman was in the circle with the ball. She slipped a pass to Allie Patterson, who had her back to goal, but made a subtle turn to her left before wristing a shot that also hit the back of the cage and increased the Jays' lead to 2-0.

Just over two minutes following Patterson's second of the year, Maggie Fees produced her first goal and point in an Elizabethtown uniform. Olivia Beachley inserted a corner that wound up with Good on the left side. She squared a pass to a cutting Fees, who ran onto the ball and smacked it into an open right side of the cage exactly four minutes after Good's game-opening goal. E-town led Goucher (4-8, 1-4 Landmark) 3-0 at halftime.

The defensive unit of Renee Grill, Fees, and Kendra Downey, paired with the hustle of the midfielders, helped contain the Gopher's speed up front. Goucher did not register a shot in the second half until almost 15 minutes had gone by.

Christman hit the ten-goal mark for the second consecutive season, scoring directly off Beachley's corner insert that made it 4-0 midway through the second half.

Hannah Mack, who relieved Margo Donlin at the half, needed to make just one save in her 35 minutes of play to preserve the combined shutout. Donlin had two first-half saves.

The field hockey team hosts Rowan on Wednesday, October 18 at 4:30 p.m. in the team's final non-conference game of the season.
