Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Robidoux's hat trick aids in second straight Landmark win for women's lacrosse

TOWSON, Md. - The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team won its second straight Landmark Conference game with a 6-5 win over Goucher Saturday afternoon. E-town, who led at the half, scored the game's final two goals to turn a one-goal deficit into a one-goal victory.

Elizabethtown (5-6, 2-1 Landmark) controlled the opening draw and held possession for over three minutes in Goucher's (6-6, 1-2 Landmark) defensive end. Addie Stang had a shot saved and Carly Thompson hit the crossbar before the Gophers were able to safely clear.

Kathrina DeMaio put Goucher up 1-0 on their first shot of the game. The Gophers turned the tables on E-town and put on the offensive pressure over the following couple of minutes.

Back in their offensive end, the Jays finally capitalized as Dana Robidoux scored her first of three goals on the day. E-town forced a Goucher turnover that led to Robidoux's 27th of the season.

Three minutes after Robidoux tied the game at 1-1, Stang gave Elizabethtown its first lead of the game at 17:38 with her 100th career goal, scored on a free position. It was her 24th of the season.

Goucher had a good chance to tie things up before halftime, but Abby Kopytko made one of her four saves on Jessica Borucki's free position attempt with 6:52 left in the half. The Jays led 2-1 at the break.

Robidoux scored her second of the game a little over four minutes into the second half as E-town jumped ahead by two, 3-1.

Jojo Franklin scored consecutive goals in a three-minute span to draw Goucher level at 3-3 with 18:07 to go in regulation. Franklin and DeMaio both hit the post over the next few minutes, but the game remained in a deadlock.

The Gophers and Blue Jays traded goals, with Lauren Pirrung scoring twice and Robidoux completing her hat trick with 10:15 on the clock. Goucher was up 5-4 with 8:33 to go.

In a crucial sequence, Katie Thompson caused a turnover and Allison McLamb scooped up the ball and E-town was able to successfully clear the ball. On the other end, Stang's attempt at goal was saved, but Carly Thompson kept the possession alive by picking up the ground ball. The play eventually led to Katie Thompson finding McLamb for the game-tying goal with 7:15 showing.

On the ensuing draw control, McLamb gained possession and Elizabethtown was set up once again as it looked to take the lead back. Stang nearly did so, ringing a shot off the crossbar. Half a minute later, Katie Thompson put the Jays back in front 6-5 with her ninth of the season.

Kopytko was not needed to make a save over the remainder of the game and E-town went on to win its second straight in conference play.

The women's lacrosse team will host Gwynedd Mercy on Monday, April 11 at Wolf Field at 5 p.m.
