Women's lacrosse falls at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team dropped its fourth Landmark Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon at Scranton. The Royals doubled up the Jays at the end of the first half and rolled to a 20-8 win.

Elizabethtown (6-9, 2-4 Landmark) and Scranton (9-5, 4-1 Landmark) went nearly five minutes without a goal scored by either side to open the game. That was until Addie Stang put E-town head with her 31st goal of the season. Just over a minute later, the Royals were even at 1-1 when Meghan Kerr recorded her 34th.

Down 2-1, Mary Nell Donahue took a pass from Katie Thompson to tie the game for a second time with her 16th of the season. Erin Allen got on the score sheet for the first time with 16:36 to go in the first half to make it 3-2 Scranton, but Stang scored 18 seconds later to give the game its third deadlock of the afternoon.

The Royals took over from thereon out, registering ten of the next 11 goals in the league contest to take a commanding 13-4 lead with 22:33 left in regulation. The run of goals occurred over nearly 30 minutes of game time.

E-town's offense struggled to produce, though Dana Robidoux got her 43rd and 44th for back-to-back goals for the Jays, but it only made the score 13-6.

Donahue and Madelyn Baker were EC's final two goal scorers.

Abby Kopytko made nine saves in the loss. Becky Graessle had a team-high four caused turnovers and tied for the team lead with four ground balls to go along with one draw control.

The Blue Jays will conclude the regular season at Moravian for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, April 30.
