Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Robidoux scores record-tying 10 goals, late game-winner at USMMA

KINGS POINT, N.Y. Dana Robidoux's 10 goals tied an Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse single-game record and her final one, with just 11 seconds to play, lifted the Blue Jays to a 17-16 Landmark Conference victory at Merchant Marine Saturday.

Robidoux matched Katie Foley for the most goals in a game by an Elizabethtown player. Foley accomplished the feat twice, first at Susquehanna on April 4, 2007, and most recently at Manhattanville on March 28, 2009.

The Jays (4-5, 1-1 Landmark) needed every one of the senior midfielder's goals, too. Merchant Marine led 12-7 with 23:31 left in regulation and still had a three-goal lead, 15-12, after Jessica Reilly capped a 3-0 run with 9:51 to go.

Three more goals from Robidoux and one from Allison McLamb pushed E-town in front 16-15 with under three minutes left. It was the Blue Jays' first lead since the 27:10 mark of the first half when Megan DeMichele's first goal of the season opened the scoring.

Meredith Willard, who filled up the box score herself with eight goals and nine points, tied it at 16 for the Mariners (2-2, 0-2) 71 seconds from the final horn, but Robidoux answered with 11 seconds left to deliver the win for Elizabethtown.

Robidoux, a Kennett Square native, came up big in the second half. Not only did she net the game-winner, but seven of her 10 goals came in the final 21 minutes. Robidoux bolted into the team lead in goals with 24 and is two shy of her career-high of 26, set last season. She was 5-of-7 on free-position shots and drew within 11 points of 100 in her career.

Allison McLamb had a hat trick and eight draw controls, while Addie Stang supplied two goals, her 20th and 21st of the year, for the Blue and Gray. Robidoux and Stang both finished with 15 shots, and McLamb added 11, as the trio combined for 41 of E-town's season-high 50 shots.

Mary Nell Donahue scored her 11th goal of the year at 16:19 of the second half to tie the game at 12. Carly Thompson and Katie Thompson each picked up an assist for the Jays on the afternoon.

Elizabethtown doubled up USMMA on the shot chart and committed just 13 turnovers to the Mariners' 29. The Blue Jays were 12-of-14 on clears and picked up 19 ground balls.

Merchant Marine goalie Hannah Gizzi was under siege from the Blue Jays for much of the afternoon. She stopped 20 shots, while E-town goalie Abby Kopytko was credited with five saves in a winning effort.

Elizabethtown will return home to take on Neumann at Wolf Field Wednesday at 4 p.m.
