Eight players post goals in Jays' win over Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. — Addie Stang and Allison McLamb were named the conference's Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Week a day ago and they both lived up to their respective billing Tuesday evening at Rutgers-Camden. Stang led the Blue Jays with four goals and McLamb led the way with nine ground balls, six caused turnovers, and five draw controls. E-town controlled both halves of play and eight different players scored in a 19-9 win, its second consecutive victory.

Rutgers-Camden (2-2) took the lead less than a minute into the game on Cecilia Gross' seventh of the season. The lead lasted all but 21 seconds when Dana Robidoux knotted the game at 1-1. 1:03 later, Katie Thompson put Elizabethtown (3-3) ahead 2-1.

The Scarlet Raptors would tie the game up at 2-2 with 26:28 left in the first half, but K. Thompson's goal nearly two minutes later put the Blue Jays back in front for good.

Madelyn Baker gave E-town a two-goal lead, but Rutgers-Camden was back within a goal when Gross scored her second of the game. The Jays, however, would receive goals from Stang, McLamb, and Carly Thompson to stretch the lead out to 7-3.

Elizabethtown's scoring ways continued in the second half after taking an 11-6 lead into the break. The Jays outscored Rutgers-Camden 8-3 in the second half.

Stang took a feed from McLamb to start the second-half scoring as E-town had doubled up the Scarlet Raptors at that point, 12-6. C. Thompson recorded two goals in the final 30 minutes, while Stang (2), K. Thompson, Julia Ferrante, Baker, and Mary Nell Donahue also tallied for EC.

Stang ended the contest with single-game career highs in assists (five) and points (nine). She led all Jays' goal scorers with four, while the Thompson twins registered a hat trick each. Baker, Robidoux, Donahue, and McLamb had two apiece while Ferrante scored her second of the season. McLamb added the six caused turnovers to her league-leading 19 going into the game.

Abby Kopytko made three saves in 53:11. Ashley Gibson came on for the final 6:49, making one save. Alexa Rocks had 16 saves for Rutgers-Camden.
