Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Thompson nets six, WLAX rolls past Immaculata

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Carly Thompson scored nearly a third of her goal total from last season in the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team's 16-3 win over Immaculata Friday afternoon at Wolf Field. Thompson scored three in each half to lead the Jays in scoring.

Addie Stang, the third-leading scorer in the Landmark a season ago, fittingly kicked off Elizabethtown's (1-0) season with a goal less than five minutes into the non-conference contest.

Immaculata (0-1) tied it up a minute later with a free position goal from Meredith Katona, but it would be all Blue Jays the rest of the half. Thompson took a pass from her sister, Katie Thompson, right in front of goal and with a flick of her stick, sent the ball past Christine McIntyre for her first of the season.

Stang then scored the next two to complete her first-half hat trick to put E-town up 4-1 with 14:07 left in the first half. Thompson (two), Stang, and Mary Nell Donahue closed out the first 30 minutes of play with goals and the Jays led 8-1 at halftime.

Abby Kopytko made all five of her saves in the first half and was later relieved late in the second by Ashley Gibson. Gibson did not face any shots in her 9:20 of play.

Dana Robidoux joined the list of Blue Jay scorers in the second half, with one of her two goals coming on a free position. Allison McLamb also scored twice in the second half for Elizabethtown. K. Thompson got her first of the season with 9:20 to play, unassisted. She also had five assists.

McLamb had a team-high six caused turnovers, while Becky Graessle added three. K. Thompson had seven draw controls and eight ground balls, both team-bests.

The women's lacrosse team will face Mount Union in Puerto Rico in the first of two games for the team on its spring break trip. The game, Monday, February 29, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
