Susquehanna, No. 10 Juniata sweep Blue Jays

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Tenth-ranked Juniata and Susquehanna, the teams picked 1-2 in the Landmark Preseason Poll, swept Elizabethtown by 3-0 scores Saturday at Susquehanna.

Mackenzie Garner reached double figures in kills for the seventh match in a row and 12th time this season, as the Jays (4-14, 0-4 Landmark) fell to Susquehanna 25-9, 25-14, 26-24 in their late morning match.

Brooke Daugherty had 10 assists against the River Hawks (14-4, 2-1), while Elle Shatto provided six digs, Chelsea Gallagher five and Katie Kennedy five.

The nationally-ranked Eagles (10-5, 4-0) hit over .300 in the first and third sets, overpowering the Blue Jays 25-10, 25-16, 25-12.

Garner's seven kills again led the way for E-town. Sarah Schneider followed with five and Emily Sexton four. Gallagher compiled 10 digs and Daugherty 15 assists for the Jays, who have dropped seven consecutive matches.

Elizabethtown will try to turn around their recent misfortunes Wednesday when they return home to face Lebanon Valley at 7 p.m.
