Quinto leads charge for Blue Jays at Dickinson Invitational

NEWVILLE, Pa. — Setting 4,000-meter personal records was just as contagious as smiling for the Elizabethtown College women's cross country, who did a bit of both Saturday at the Dickinson Long-Short Course Invitational, where numerous Blue Jay runners set their PRs, including the top five finishers for E-town.

Casey Quinto's run Saturday helped illustrate the depth Elizabethtown has. Quinto was the third different runner to take the top spot on the team in three meets. Quinto was fifth overall and the top finisher from all Division III participants in the race with a new 4k PR of 14:28.83. She had recently set it a few weeks back at Shippensburg (15:17).

In fact, Quinto and Lydia Dearie were the top two Division III runners. Dearie was ninth overall in 14:41.07, dropping 11 seconds off her previous best at the 4,000-meter distance. Bucknell took spots one through four and six through eight.

Brenna McNamee, already a conference Athlete of the Week, was the third E-town runner to finish, placing 24th overall in a new PR of 15:07.96. She was followed by Kelsey Brady, 29th overall, in 15:15.63.

Maria Anderson rounded out the top five for Elizabethtown, taking 35th in a field of 217 runners in 15:26.27 as E-town's top five were all less than a minute apart. Anderson and Brady both ran PR's previously set at last year's Long-Short Course Invitational.

The women's cross country team will travel to New York next weekend for a meet at Geneseo on Saturday, October 3.
