Volleyball drops Landmark opener at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Moravian rode a commanding first set victory to a three-set sweep of Elizabethtown in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams Tuesday night.

The Greyhounds (6-7, 1-0 Landmark) jumped in front with a 25-8 win in the first set and went on to claim the second and third 25-22 and 25-19.

Mackenzie Garner led the Blue and Gray (10-5, 0-1) with six kills and four blocks, while Juliana Mowen had six kills and nine digs, but the visitors suffered through a tough-hitting night. Moravian, meanwhile, recorded 31 kills in the match, 11 more than the Blue Jays.

Sarah Schneider finished with four kills for E-town, Shannon Deck 13 digs and Steph High 15 assists.

Mary Zacher led Moravian with 12 kills and 11 digs and the Greyhounds racked up nine aces on the night.

Elizabethtown resumes conference play Saturday when it hosts Susquehanna and Juniata.
