Women's lacrosse falls to Scranton in home finale

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Scranton powered its way to a 15-5 halftime lead en route to handing Elizabethtown a 19-7 defeat Saturday afternoon in the home finale at Wolf Field.

Erin Allen scored a pair of goals and Meghan Kerr had a goal and a helper as the visitors scored the first five goals.

Elizabethtown got goals from Cierra Eckenrode and Carly Thompson sandwiched around two more from the Royals (6-7, 4-1 Landmark), but the Jays would make a mini run midway through the half.

Addie Stang found the back of the net for the 44th time this year at 15:30, and in less than two minutes Mary Nell Donahue and Eckenrode tallied to trim Scranton's lead to 9-5.

The Royals would finish on a 6-0 run, however. Lindsey Tattory led Scranton into the half with two goals during the spurt.

Stang and Donahue fired home second-half goals for the Blue and Gray (4-9, 1-5 Landmark.)

Donahue, Eckenrode and Stang finished with two goals apiece, while Dana Robidoux had an assist. Becky Graessle caused a turnover for the Jays, as did Mandi Zeiders, Eckenrode and Stang.

Michelle Fuller started and made two first half saves before giving way to Beata Palosz. Palosz stopped one shot in 30 minutes.

Scranton was led by seven points (five goals, two assists) from Pfail and five points from Emily Goss. Tattory collected four goals and Kailyn Angelo a game-high 12 assists.

Marne Rossetti denied five E-town shots in 30 minutes, while Grace Campbell made one save in the second half.

Elizabethtown concludes its 2015 season Wednesday at Gwynedd Mercy. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
