Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Hat tricks from Stang, Eckenrode not enough for WLAX at Drew

MADISON, N.J. — Addie Stang continued pouring in the goals for the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team, improving her goal total to a Landmark-leading 40 on the season. Stang recorded a hat trick in Saturday's loss at Drew, as did Cierra Eckenrode.

Anna Fiorini scored her ninth of the year for Drew (7-4, 2-2 Landmark) a little over two minutes into the game, but Stang's 38th knotted things up at 1-1 just 17 seconds later. It would be all Drew after that, however.

The Rangers scored the next 13 goals to take a commanding 14-1 lead over Elizabethtown (4-7, 1-3 Landmark). Nikki Kleiman and Krysta Cento combined for eight of the 13 unanswered tallies before Stang recorded goal No. 39 with 7:52 left in the first half on an assist from Carly Thompson.

E-town did score four of the last five goals in the half, but the hole was already too big. Eckenrode scored back-to-back goals for the Jays nearly a minute apart, her first two of the day. Stang got her 40th of the season with 27 ticks remaining in the half. EC trailed 15-5 at the break.

The goal scoring in the second half fell off pace from the first, but Drew still outscored the Blue Jays six to one. Eckenrode took a Carly Thompson pass for the first goal of the second half and her third of the game at the 26:02 mark. It was the freshman's first career hat trick and the fourth straight game in which she's scored.

Cento had a game-high six goals for Drew, while Kleiman added five and trails Stang by two goals for the Landmark Conference lead.

Michelle Fuller made 11 saves in goal for Elizabethtown.

The women's lacrosse team will remain on the road, traveling to Susquehanna on Wednesday, April 15 for a 4 p.m. game.
