ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team bounced back after a close loss the night before to the tune of 20 goals from ten different goal scorers in its 20-9 non-conference victory over Lancaster Bible Thursday afternoon.
Katie Thompson had a season-best eight points in the game.
Thompson was involved from the very beginning of the game. A minute and a half in, she assisted on
Dana Robidoux's fourth of the season to open the scoring for Elizabethtown (3-2). 19 seconds later, she assisted on
Carly Thompson's tenth of the year to make it 2-0 Blue Jays.
Katie Thompson recorded her third assist of the first half on
Molly Hurley's first of three goals that made it 8-0. Thompson then scored unassisted, her third of the season and second of the game, to make it 9-0 before Lancaster Bible (0-2) got its first goal.
Myranda Kemrer, who did a bit of everything for the Chargers, tallied twice in a five minute span as LBC trailed 10-2 with a little over ten minutes to go in the first half.
Megan DeMichele was able to beat the clock, taking a
Kirstin Quilty feed and depositing it into the net with just a second showing. It was 13-2 E-town at the half.
With the score 13-3,
Jessica Battaglia relieved
Michelle Fuller from goalie duty with 21:08 remaining in the game. Lancaster Bible managed to get with five goals at 13-8, but
Cierra Eckenrode and
Adriana Bertolino scored back-to-back goals to provide Elizabethtown some breathing room.
Kemrer got her fourth of the game off a pass from Alyssa Wesner with 14:36 to go, which marked the last goal fo the game for LBC. It was all Blue Jays from there on out.
Eckenrode, DeMichele (2),
Katie Thompson, and Quilty provided the remaining goals for Elizabethtown to finish out the 20-9 win.
Jessica Binnig and
Bri Rogers each scored their first goals of the season in the first half.
Meghan Donohue led the Blue Jays with six ground balls.
Katie Thompson had a game-high eight points, with three goals and five helpers. She leads E-town with 11 assists on the season. Thompson, Eckenrode, and
Emily Young had four ground balls apiece. Fuller made nine saves before exiting.
After four games in five days, the women's lacrosse team will get over a week to rest up before traveling to face nationally-ranked Catholic next Saturday, March 21 in the Landmark Conference opener. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
