ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Critical wins down the stretch by Kimberly Cosgrove in the 500-yard freestyle and Amanda Long in the 100-yard breaststroke helped Elizabethtown hold off Drew 108-92 in a Landmark Conference dual Friday evening at the Alumni Pool.

Cosgrove was a three-time winner against the Rangers (0-6, 0-3 Landmark), pulling off the triple for the first time this season. Ranked fourth in the conference in the 1000 free heading into the Drew meet, Cosgrove, a graduate student from Easton, almost matched her season best by claiming a 45-second victory in 11:30.33. The time was only nine-hundredths off the 11:30.24 she swam at Susquehanna back on Nov. 1.

Elizabethtown (2-2, 1-1 Landmark) used the 1000 to build up 16 points with a 1-2-3 finish. Katie Derreth swam a season-best 12:45.68 to finish runner-up and Alyson Courtney was third.

Cosgrove would make it two wins in a row, replicating her season-opening performance against York (Pa.), with a win in the 200 free to follow up the 1000. This time, a new season fast time was in order, as she finished in 2:06.21, gaining over three full seconds. Cosgrove later went 3-for-3 with a season-best 5:42.95 in the 500 free to lead freshman Megan Anderson in a 1-2 finish for the Blue Jays.

In the 100 butterfly, senior Hunter Smith scored max points for the Jays with her quickest time of the season, a 1:08.20.

Though Drew's women's roster was considerably smaller with just nine swimmers, the Rangers had plenty of talent to compete. Jenny Stein won the 50 free (26.11) and the 100 back (1:05.44), with Lindsay Pearce providing nine points for a victory in the 200 individual medley and Jordan Jessup taking the 100 free.

Elizabethtown had enough to overcome those performances, though. Cosgrove, Anderson and fourth-place Derreth helped E-town outscore Drew 15-4 in the 500 free. Long, Dru Schneider and Mariselle Parisi collected 14 points for the home team in the 100 breast. All three swimmers set new season-bests with Long turning in a 1:12.34, Schneider a 1:15.47 and Parisi a 1:19.12.

The Blue Jays can improve their record to above .500 for the first time with a win at Lebanon Valley Tuesday. Meet time is 6 p.m.
