Kayla Lyon returns to her alma mater as an assistant coach with the men's and women's volleyball teams in 2018-19.
Lyon was also an assistant with the women's team under then-head coach Randall Kreider during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. In her first season as an assistant, the Blue Jays went 23-10 and reached the MAC Commonwealth Conference championship match.
A middle hitter with the Blue and Gray from 2006-09, the former Kayla Deats registered 916 kills (1.89/set), a .282 hitting percentage, 128 service aces, 304 digs and 407 blocks (153 solo) during a highly accomplished collegiate career.
As a senior in 2009, Lyon was named All-MAC Commonwealth First Team, which preceded All-Region and All-American honors. Lyon was selected Second Team a year earlier. She still ranks tied for seventh in program history in total blocks and 10th in total kills. Lyon was a two-year team captain and served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Lyon received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Elizabethtown in 2010.
Since December, 2016, Lyon has coached club volleyball for Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim.
Lyon, originally from Middlebury Center, Pennsylvania outside of Wellsboro, now resides in Lancaster.
