Bryan Buckius is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Elizabethtown College men's and women's volleyball teams.
Buckius is a native of nearby Lancaster and played scholastically at Penn Manor. He attended Bloomsburg University and was a member of the club volleyball team before moving back to the area and getting into coaching.
Buckius served as a student assistant coach at Penn State York and spent a season as the boys' junior varsity coach at Conestoga Valley High School before being hired as the head boys' coach at Elizabethtown Area High School in 2015.
As one of the youngest coaches in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, Buckius, 21 at the time of his appointment, methodically turned a Bears team that was just 1-13 in 2014 into a respected outfit. Elizabethtown improved to 6-9 by his third season (2017) and narrowly missed out on L-L League and District 3 playoff berths in 2018, finishing 7-8.
Following the 2018 season, Buckius stepped down to accept a position on Blue Jays' head coach Alex Hinsey's staff. Elizabethtown College's men's program is preparing for its inaugural season in 2019.
In addition to his coaching role at the College, Buckius is coaching club volleyball at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim.
