Danielle Seling returned to Elizabethtown as the interim head women's lacrosse coach for the 2014 season after serving as an assistant on former head coach Mike Faith's staff from 2009-10. On June 13, 2014, it was announced that Seling, the fifth coach in program history, would return for the 2015 season without the interim tag.
Tasked with rebuilding the roster and transitioning Elizabethtown into the Landmark Conference, Seling did so admirably in 2014. The Blue Jays, who entered the season without a single game of collegiate playing experience, produced a pair of 20-goal scorers in freshman
Addie Stang (25) and sophomore
Dana Robidoux (21). Freshman defender
Krissy Pennell hopped right off the basketball court and onto the field to lead the Landmark with 33 caused turnovers. Pennell was named All-Landmark Second Team.
"I want to thank
Nancy Latimore , Elizabethtown College administration and the entire search committee for such an incredible opportunity," said Seling upon her hiring. "Elizabethtown is an attractive college because of its unwavering standard of excellence academically and athletically."
Growth was clearly evident in Seling's 2014 team, no more so than on April 12 when the Blue Jays knocked off Merchant Marine 12-8.
"This past season had a tremendous impact on my coaching career," explained Seling. "To be a great coach you have to continually work to be better tomorrow than you were yesterday."
Seling got her coaching start at Elizabethtown as an assistant under Faith in 2009 and 2010. The Blue Jays went 16-3 and reached their second Middle Atlantic Conference championship game during her first season on the sidelines. The team's .842 winning percentage was a highmark in its 13-year history.
In 2010, E-town won its first MAC Championship with an unblemished 12-0 regular season in league play, and an 11-4 victory over FDU-Florham at Wolf Field in the conference final. The Blue Jays would go on to win their first NCAA Division III Tournament game, 13-12, over No. 14 Washington & Lee, before bowing out in the second round against 19th-ranked Mary Washington.
The blue and gray went 32-8 overall and were unbeaten in 23 league games in Seling's two seasons as an assistant.
Seling, a native of Whiteford, Md., was a three-year letterwinner at York (Pa.) College, where she played on the Spartans' inaugural team in 2006. After two seasons as Elizabethtown's assistant coach, she earned her first head coaching job at Susquehannock High School. Seling led the Warriors to District 3 Tournament appearances in back-to-back seasons. In 2013, Seling returned to her alma mater as an assistant to Jen Muston.
Seling also has club coaching experience with the Green Turtle Lacrosse Club (Bel Air, Md.). The club won the Turtlefest Tournament twice in addition to winning the American Showcase Tournament in 2010.
Seling resides in Shrewsbury with her fiancée Blake, daughter Aubree and son Owen.
