Elizabethtown College's fourth all-time leading scorer, Brenda (Wessel) Spackman '98, is back at her alma mater as an assistant coach with the women's basketball team in 2013-14.
Spackman amassed 1,488 points during her Blue Jay career from 1994-98. She led E-town to a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship in her freshman season and helped the blue and gray to three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
Originally from Hershey, Pa., Spackman was a three-time MAC Commonwealth League First Team All-Star and Most Valuable Player. She earned the honors in 1995-96, 1996-97 and 1997-98. Following her freshman season, in which she helped Elizabethtown rank as the seventh highest scoring offense in Division III at 82.2 points per game, Spackman was named a MAC Commonwealth League Second Team All-Star.
In more than 100 career games, Spackman racked up 629 field goals (second most in team history), 213 free throws made (10th all-time) 582 rebounds (15th all-time), 298 assists (ninth all-time) and 273 steals (fourth all-time). She averaged just under 14 points per game for her career.
Spackman scored her 1,000th career point on Feb. 13, 1997 in a 67-53 win over Western Maryland.
