LANCASTER, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball won the third set, 26-24 in a four-set match at Franklin & Marshall, Tuesday evening.
Bailey McFeaters led the team with 11 kills and four digs.
Emma Rizzutto grabbed 22 digs while
Lucy Stanek grabbed 11 digs and six kills.
Zoey Henning recorded a double-double of 20 assists and 10 digs.
Set scores were 12-25, 21-25, 26-24, 17-25.
Etown struggled early on in the opening frame at F&M. The Diplomats jumped out to a 19-8 lead and finished off the set on a 5-1 run to win, 25-12. The Blue Jays fought back in set two, keeping it tight to start. Several Diplomat errors helped Etown tie up the set, 9-9. Kills from McFeaters,
Kinsey Reuwer, and
Aubrey Sullivan gave the Jays an 18-15 lead. F&M then tied it up 18-18 and never looked back as they went on to win 25-21.
Set three saw the Blue Jays jump out to a 9-4 lead after rattling off six straight points. Kills from Henning, McFeaters, and Reuwer kept Etown in the lead at 19-18. The Diplomats were at match point with a 24-22 lead before Etown would go on to win, 26-24 after recording the final four points via Diplomat errors.
The two teams traded points to start the fourth set. Following kills by McFeaters and
Tori Obarow the Blue Jays led, 11-10. F&M tallied the next seven points in row to take a 17-11 lead. The Blue Jays closed the gap with three straight points. The Diplomats gained enough momentum to get them through the end of the set to win 25-17.
Etown starts Landmark Conference play on Friday as they travel down to Catholic at 7 pm.
