WILKES-BARRE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey team suffered a 0-3 loss on the road to Wilkes as they opened up Landmark Conference play on Saturday.
The Colonels outshot the Blue Jays 17-13 while Etown held the 5-3 edge in corners.
Wilkes held the majority of the possession the first quarter which resulted on the Colonels getting on the board. In the final two minutes of the first, Etown fired off three shots. The Blue Jays second shot by
Carly Schumacher was saved by Emma Dengler for a defensive save. Etown held possession in the second as they tallied four shots while not allowing a single shot from Wilkes. Etown was able to find the back of the net as Wilkes went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Wilkes recorded their second and third goals in the 32nd and then 36h minute to secure the 3-0 win over Etown.
The Blue Jays step out of conference play on Wednesday as they host Bridgewater (Va.).
