TOWSON, Md.-- Six from the Elizabethtown College baseball team earned Landmark All-Conference honors announced by the league on Tuesday.
David Woolley,
Alex Perrin,
Alex McClain, and
Nick Fiorini was named to the first team while
Cory Rible was named to the second team and
Tommy Kanakos earned honorable mention.
Woolley earns his fourth first team honor as the senior had a record breaking season. Starting in all 45 games for the Blue Jays, Woolley broke the Etown career at-bats (670), runs (194), hits (254), walks (144), and games played (172). On the season the shortstop recorded 61 hits, 43 runs, and 31 RBIs. He recorded three hits in eight games this season. Against Penn St.-Harrisburg, the senior went 3-6 with two runs, four RBI, and two home runs. Early this season, Woolley tallied his 200th career hit. Woolley was also named Landmark Athlete of the Week and D3baseball.com Team of the Week in mid-April.
Fiorini makes his first appearance on the all-conference team after being named Landmark Athlete of the Week twice this season. The sophomore appeared in 41 games totaling 55 hits, 32 runs, five home runs, and 58 RBI. Fiorini was first in the conference in RBIs, third in OPS (1.067), fifth in slugging percentage (.572) and sixth in batting average (.379). At Juniata, the outfielder went a career-high 4-6 with three RBI. In the second game against Moravian, he went 3-4 with a career-high five RBI. Against Lycoming, he hit his first career grand slam.
Perrin makes his second appearance on the all-conference team but his first on the first team. The second baseman, started in all 45 games totaling a career-high of 50 hits, 38 runs, and 27 RBI. Against Susquehanna this season, Perrin recorded his 100th career hit. Against Juniata, Perrin recorded a career-high of five hits. He also went on a 13 game hit-streak to start the season.
McClain makes his first appearance on the all-conference team after starting in 44 games for the Blue Jays. The senior recorded career-highs in hits (51), runs (36), home runs (9), and RBI (41). McClain led the team and was second in the conference in home runs. The third baseman, recorded a career-high five RBI vs. Moravian as he also went 3-3 with three runs in the game. He also recorded a career-high four hits at Juniata going 4-5 with two runs, and two RBI. Against Catholic, he recorded his 100th career hit.
Rible earns second team honors making his first appearance on the all-conference team as a sophomore. The reliever earned three wins and four saves on the season as he pitched 22.0 innings. He struck out a career-high 29. Against Susquehanna in the Landmark Championship, he recorded a career-high four strikeouts.
Finally, Kankos earns his first all-conference honor as a catcher. He appeared in 30 games while totaling 20 runs, 36 hits, and 20 RBI. The junior was efficient behind the plate holding a .992 fielding percentage. At Franklin & Marshall, Kanakos went 3-3 with two runs, and four RBI.
Etown ended their season making their fifth straight Landmark Conference Tournament. The Blue Jays were named Runner-Ups after falling, 4-2 to Scranton in the Championship. They ended their season 29-16 overall.
