ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Junior
Tristan Coleman outscored Goucher on his own as the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team blew past the Gophers, 24-5. Coleman totaled six goals and a pair of assists for an eight-point outing as the Blue Jays improved to 6-2 in the Landmark.
Nearly half of the first quarter went by without a goal until Coleman started it off with an assist from Wehland. He scored again nearly two minutes later as Elizabethtown was up 2-0. After Goucher made it 3-1,
Reese Levinson scored late in the first as the Jays led 4-1 after one.
Etown blasted the Gophers in the second to the tune of 10 goals to two. The home squad reeled off five straight to start the second as they increased the advantage to 9-1 after Coleman set up
Justin Fox in front of net. Levinson set up Coleman for a man-up tally late in the quarter and the half ended with Fox scooping up a loose ball and finding the back of the goal just before time expired. Elizabethtown led 14-3 at half.
The Jays continued their dominance over the Gophers in the second half, outscoring the visitors 5-1 in the third and fourth quarters.
Etown's defense made it tough on the Goucher clear as they were just 17-for-29 in the game while EC was almost perfect, 24-for-25 on clearing attempts. Elizabethtown also won the face-off battle, 22-8.
Fox and Levinson each had hat tricks while
Casey Lamey,
Ben Backenstose and
Collin McCormick scored two apiece.
Ben Zaitz stopped five shots in his three quarters of action.
Christian Schrader made one stop and
Max Coady added four saves.
