CHESTER, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team defeated Widener on the road, 19-10 in a high-scoring affair. The two teams combined for 30 walks and 19 hits.
Nick Fiorini went 3-5 with two runs, a home run, while tying a career-high five RBI.
Mason Woolwine went 2-3 with three runs, two RBIs, and three walks.
Etown grabbed the lead in the first inning after
Alex McClain knocked an RBI single. Widener got going in the second inning scoring six runs on five hits to take a 6-1 lead. The Blue Jays cut the lead in the third inning. With two outs, McClain singled to left field and was brought home on
Jake Ruple's triple.
Fiorini cut the deceit to 6-4 in the fifth after hitting his third home run of the season. The Blue Jays took their second lead of the game in the sixth scoring three runs to lead, 7-6.
In the seventh, Etown doubled up their lead scoring five runs on two bases loaded walks, a two run double by Fiorini and a wild pitch. In the eighth, The Blue Jays added three more runs to extend their lead to 15-6. Woolwine, Fiorini, and
Nate Moser recorded an RBI each in the inning. Widener cut Etown's lead to 15-9 after the eighth inning.
Etown started off the scoring in the ninth off a bases loaded walk. A ground out and two singles ended the scoring for the Blue Jays as they would go on to win, 19-10.
Etown will host Susquehanna this weekend for a three-game series.
