Softball splits with Juniata on Senior Day

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team split with Juniata on Saturday after celebrating Senior Day ahead of the Landmark Conference doubleheader. Lauren Leshak earned her fourth win of the season in game one.

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 4, JUNIATA 0
Neither team could break the scoreless tie until Elizabethtown broke it open with a four-run sixth inning. Hannah Long scored on a fielder's choice as Maddie Reever reached on the play with the Eagles unable to turn the out. Sarah Birner singled in Lily Baldwin, Jess Dunn drove in Emma Dahl and Lexi O'Brien capped off the four-run rally with an RBI single to right.

Leshak, who came on in relief in the top of the sixth with the game still 0-0, got the Eagles to ground into a double play before a fly out ended their sixth inning. With two on base and two outs in the seventh, Leshak ended the game with a ground out to second base, as Birner collected the ball and threw to Baldwin at second for the game's final out.

Baldwin, Morgan Carr, Dunn, and O'Brien each had two hits for the Jays.

GAME 2: JUNIATA 2, ELIZABETHTOWN 0
Juniata flipped the script on Etown in game two as the Blue Jays were held to just three hits over seven innings.

The Eagles scored twice in the third inning, the only runs of the game.

Carr, Dunn, and Leshak (pinch hit) had the hits for Elizabethtown in game two.

The Blue Jays host Catholic on Wednesday, April 15, at 3 and 5 p.m.
