Ruple Walks it Off in Game One as Blue Jays Sweep Norwich

FORT PIERCE, Fla.—Down 8-4 after four innings in game one, the Elizabethtown baseball team made a comeback to win, 9-8 before downing Norwich, 12-3 in game two.

GAME 1:
Jake Ruple went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and walked it off in the seventh with an RBI single to end the game, 9-8. AJ Lipscomb went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Mason Woolwine went 2 for 4 with two runs.

Etown put up their first run in the first inning after Lipscomb hit a RBI-single. Norwich tied up the game at 1-1 before the Blue Jays went up, 3-1 in the second. The Cadets tacked on seven runs in the next two innings putting them out in front, 8-3. A sacrifice fly by David Woolley in fourth cut Norwich's' lead to 8-4.

Following two scoreless innings, Etown was able to quickly get out of the top of the seventh. Lipscomb and McClain hit RBI-singles to bring the score to 8-6 in the seventh. With the bases loaded, Conlan Buletza scored after Parker Summers was hit by a pitch to leave the Blue Jays trailing by just one. Ruple hit a 2-RBI single down the left field line to score two and win the game, 9-8.

GAME 2:
Lipscomb went 2 for 2 with two runs, two RBIs, a double and two walks. Ruple went 3 for 3 with two runs, four RBIs, and two doubles. Aidan Casey struck out six while Jack Lanum earned the win striking out eight.

Etown scored a run or more in the first five innings to grab a 12-3 win over Norwich in game two. After reaching first on an error, Lipscomb scored Woolwine for the first run of the game. Casey made quick work of the bottom half of the inning as he struck out the side.

The Blue Jays extended their lead to 4-0 in the second scoring three runs on four hits. Tommy Kanakos led off the third with a double to left center before Ruple hit a double to score Kanakos to grab another run. Norwich scored their lone three runs in the third inning. Ruple added two more RBIs to his day as he helped Etown to a 7-3 lead after four.

Etown ended their scoring in the fifth as they totaled five runs on just one hit. The Jays quickly loaded the bases after two hit by pitches and a walk. Cadet pitchers struggled to get out of the inning as
Etown would score three runs with bases loaded. Alex Perrin hit a RBI-single for Etown's 11th run before a sacrifice fly ended the scoring. In the bottom of the fifth, Lanum would go on to strike out all three batters.

Etown faces Kenyon tomorrow in a doubleheader for their finals games of spring break.
