Long records 100th hit in softball's split at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team split its make-up doubleheader at Scranton on Sunday and junior Hannah Long recorded her 100th career hit in game two.

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 10, SCRANTON 2 (F/5)
Elizabethtown fell behind 1-0, but a two-run second inning put the Blue Jays in front. Morgan Carr doubled to left center to score Sarah Birner and Emily Bittner singled home Carr to make it 2-1.

Etown blew open the game in the fourth inning with eight runs on six hits and the benefit of three errors by the Royals. Carr doubled in her second run of the game to start the scoring in the inning. Emma Dahl and Carr both scored on Lexi O'Brien's single as the lead grew to 5-1.

Lily Baldwin brought in a run on a single to left, Brooke Huczko added a sac fly RBI and Maddie Reever launched her third home run of the season over the center field fence to put the score at 10-1.

Scranton grabbed a run back in the fourth, but Lauren Leshak closed out the Royals in the fifth for her third win of the season.

Birner, Carr and Bittner each had two hits while Reever, Carr and O'Brien each had two RBIs apiece.

GAME 2: SCRANTON 5, ELIZABETHTOWN 1
The Royals rebounded in game two, holding the Jays to four hits over seven innings.

Hannah Long doubled to left to knock home Etown's lone run. The hit was also her 100th career hit.

Birner, Carr and Bittner also had a hit in game two as Scranton earned the split.

The Blue Jays play at Hood on Monday, March 30, at 3 and 5 p.m.
