ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team earned their first CVC win of the season as they swept Wilkes while hitting .487.

Mason Boyer led the match with 11 kills (.526) while Logan Smith added 10 kills (.438). Braydon Ambruster tallied 21 assists, and Patrick Neyer grabbed 15 assists.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-20, 25-15.

All three sets started close until the Blue Jays gained momentum and were able to pull off the 3-0 sweep. Tied at eight in the first, Etown then rattled off six in a row to lead, 14-8. A kill from Ambruster and then two straight from Smith put the Blue Jays up, 19-12. Etown tallied four straight and from there the lead was too large for Wilkes to comeback which resulted in a 25-16 win for the Blue Jays.

Etown led by just two to start off the second set before they jumped out to a 15-8 lead. Wilkes climbed back within reach at 18-14 but a 4-2 run from the Blue Jays put them ahead, 23-17. Smith smacked down a kill to end the set, 25-20.

Hitting .611 in the final set, Etown started off with a 10-5 lead. An error and then an ace sandwiched a Boyer kill to bring the score to 14-7. The two teams traded points for a bit until Etown rattled off five straight to come within match point. A Colonels service error ended the set, 25-15 and the match 3-0.

Etown is back at home tomorrow to face Drew and Penn St.-Schuylkill in a tri-match.
