Softball sweeps Neumann

ASTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team swept for the first time this season with a pair of wins at Neumann. The Blue Jays took game one in five innings, 10-0, before winning 8-2 in game two.

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 10, NEUMANN 0 (F/5)
Maddie Reever's first of three RBIs in game one came in the opening inning with her RBI single to third. That put Elizabethtown ahead 1-0 right away.

Reever added to her total with a two-run home run to left field in the third inning. That came after Lily Baldwin's RBI triple to center to score Hannah Long. Huczko knocked in Baldwin with an RBI single to center. Reever's second dinger of the season made it 5-0 in the third.

The Blue Jays added five on in the fourth. Huczko singled and due to an error in the outfield, Baldwin scored on the play to make it 7-0. That was after her second extra base hit that drove in a run. Skye Zolomij singled in Huczko, Morgan Carr's hit to left scored Reever and Emily Bittner drew a bases loaded walk as the lead bloomed to 10-0.

Baldwin retired the side in order in the bottom of the fifth to end the game in five.

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 8, NEUMANN 2
The runs kept coming for Elizabethtown as they wasted no time in the top of the first in game two. Lily Baldwin singled in Hannah Long to kick off the scoring for Etown. Baldwin then scored as Sarah Birner put the ball in play and reached on an error. Morgan Carr also knocked in a run with a fielder's choice to short.

Huczko drove in Baldwin in the second and then the Jays added on two more in the third to go up 6-1. Jess Dunn and Birner scored runs with Hannah Long recording the RBI ground out that made it 6-1.

Huczko hit a two-RBI triple in the fifth to make it 8-2.

Gianna Anzideo pitched another complete game for her third win of the season. She allowed two runs, one earned over seven innings to get the victory.

Elizabethtown is scheduled to play at Scranton on Saturday, March 28, at 1 and 3 p.m.
