ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- 14 players recorded at least a point for the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team in their 25-6 win over Juniata at Wolf Field on Wednesday.
Tristan Coleman had a game-high six points with two goals and four assists,
Ben Backenstose a game-high five goals for the Blue Jays.
There was plenty of offense to go around for Elizabethtown as they scored early and often throughout the first half. The Jays put up 10 goals in each of the first two quarters and led 20-1 at halftime.
Jay Rodriguez had a hat trick two-thirds of the way through the first quarter while seven different players recorded goals in the opening quarter that began with Coleman setting up
Justin Fox 50 seconds into the game. Fox, Rodriguez,
Evan Youndt,
Reese Levinson, Backenstose,
Graham Lindsay and
Cyrus Frid Denekos accounted for the first-quarter goals.
Coleman,
Brent Wehland and
Finn Kristan scored early in the second quarter.
Collin McCormick's first career goal came a man-up midway through the second. His goal made it 16-0. Coleman dished to Kristan, who beat the expiring clock with a second left for the team's 20th.
Backenstose had a hat trick of his own plus two, but completed the hatty early in the third unassisted.
Both sides scored twice in the third and three times in the fourth.
Ben Zaitz,
Christian Schrader and
Max Coady combined for the win. Schrader had two saves while Coady made one.
The Blue Jays host Scranton on Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m.
