ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team opened at home on Wednesday against Hood. The Blue Jays downed the Blazers, 10-2.
David Woolley tied the program career walks record as he tallied his 114
th.
Nick Fiorini went 2 for 3 with two runs, two RBIs, and a double.
Jack Lanum earned the win on the mound tallying for strikeouts.
After a scoreless first inning, Fiorini scored on a wild pitch after reaching first base via a walk. Hood tied up the game in the top of the third at 1-1. In the fourth,
Griffin Patridge's single through the left side scored Etown's second run. The Blazers again responded in the following inning to tie up the game at 2-2.
Etown got things going in the sixth inning scoring seven runs on five hits. With the bases loaded
Charlie Sheerer hit a RBI-single to left field. Down two outs, the next three Blue Jay batters were walked to bring in three more runs to extend Etown's lead to 6-2. A hit by pitch scored Etown's seventh run. Fiorini ended the inning with a double to right field for an RBI.
The Blue Jays grabbed their final run in the eighth inning.
Dylan Pope hit a single to center field and then advanced. Pope was able to run home on a ground out.
Etown travels to Franklin & Marshall tomorrow at 3:30 pm
