CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team splits its makeup road doubleheader at Dickinson on Tuesday. Dickinson took game one, 6-4. The Blue Jays got game two with a 10-3 victory.
GAME 1: DICKINSON 6, ELIZABETHTOWN 4
Elizabethtown was down 5-0 heading into the fourth when
Lily Baldwin hit an RBI double to get the Jays on the board. Baldwin smacked her second extra base hit of the game later in the sixth, a two-run double to make it 5-3 as Etown attempted to come back and take game one from the Red Devils.
Maddie Reever also had an RBI double in the sixth inning as the Jays were within a run.
Dickinson added another in the home half of the sixth to make it 6-4 and held on by that final margin.
Baldwin and
Hannah Long each had two hits.
GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 10, DICKINSON 3
The bats were going in game two as Elizabethtown cranked out 17 hits with six players having had multi-hit efforts. Long and
Lexi O'Brien each had three apiece while Baldwin,
Brooke Huczko, Reever and
Morgan Carr all had two for the Blue Jays.
Etown carried a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth. O' Brien, Long, Baldwin and Huczko each had RBI hits in the inning. Long's single knocked home a pair as EC went ahead 7-0.
Lauren Leshak was given an 8-0 lead and went five innings, only giving up one run on four hits as she won her second game of the season.
Dana Delamater threw the final two innings for the Jays.
Elizabethtown plays at Neumann tomorrow for another makeup non-conference doubleheader. Game times are 3 and 5 p.m.
