ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Drew scored late runs in both games and swept the Elizabethtown College softball team in their home opener at The Nest on Saturday. The Rangers took game one, 4-0, before shutting out the Blue Jays in game two, 2-0.
GAME 1: DREW 4, ELIZABETHTOWN 0
A solo home run from Drew in the third inning stood as the Blue Jays were unable to capitalize on a few chances with runners in scoring position. Elizabethtown would end up with five runners left on base.
A three-run homer from the Rangers in the sixth broke the game open. Gabby Duran finished off her complete game by getting the Jays in order in the seventh.
Hannah Long had a pair of hits for Etown.
GAME 2: DREW 2, ELIZABETHTOWN 0
The Blue Jays were able to generate nine hits in the second game, but like the opening game, couldn't punch any runs home as they left eight on base in capper.
EC had two on in the first, but left one in scoring position as the Rangers got out of it without any damage done.
Elizabethtown also had two on in the third and fifth innings, but pitcher Allie Porbansky kept the Jays from scoring each time.
Long had another three hits,
Skye Zolomij had one,
Jess Dunn and
Brooke Huczko each had two apiece, but the Blue Jays only had one hit outside of those four as they were unable to break the scoreless streak on the day.
Porbansky retired the side with a fly out down the right field line to end it as Drew swept Elizabethtown.
The Blue Jays will play their makeup doubleheader at Neumann on Wednesday, March 25, at 3 and 5 p.m.
