FORT PIERCE, Fla.—The Elizabethtown baseball team moved to 3-0 on the season as they downed Alvernia, 11-3 who is receiving votes in the D3baseball.com poll.
David Woolley went 3 for 5 with three RBIs and a run.
Alex Perrin went 3 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs.
Jake Ruple scored three runs.
Lucas Scheib got the start on the mound tallying six strikeouts while
Paul Kvech earned the win.
The game started off slow through the first few innings before the Blue Jay bats exploded tallying five runs on four hits in the seventh inning. Etown went up 1-0 early after the second inning and then tacked on two more runs in the fourth to lead, 3-0. The Golden Wolves evened the score in the fifth.
Tommy Kanakos led off the inning with a single to the left. After a pitching change,
Parker Summers bunt advanced Kanakos to third. A walk loaded the bases for the Jays. Kanakos scored Etown's fourth run before Perrin's single scored two. Etown added their seventh run on an error and then Woolley's single brought Perrin home, bringing the score to 8-3.
The Blue Jays were able to hold off Alvernia through the next couple of innings before Etown was able to tack on three more runs in the ninth to win, 11-3.
Etown faces Misericordia tomorrow at 11 am.
