Stockton beats men's lacrosse

GALLOWAY, N.J. -- Stockton pulled away in the second and third quarters as they beat the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team Wednesday night, 17-10. Jay Rodriguez had a hat trick in the game for the Blue Jays.

The first four goals of the game alternated, with Stockton scoring first, only to have Elizabethtown tie it up. Jack Gress set up Finn Kristan for the goal to make it 1-1. Then, after the Ospreys went ahead 2-1, Rodriguez connected on his first of three in the game to tie it for a second time at 2-2.

Stockton led 4-3 after the first quarter. Reese Levinson had given the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead before the hosts tallied twice to end the quarter.

The Ospreys outscored Etown 9-3 in the second and third quarter to grab a seven goal lead heading into the fourth.

Logan Rolles took the opening face-off of the fourth and assisted on Kristan's goal. EC trailed by as many as nine in the fourth until Rodriguez and Levinson scored late to make it 17-10. Levinson assited on Rodriguez's hat-trick goal late in the fourth.

Ben Zaitz had 16 saves in the game for Elizabethtown.

The Blue Jays play at York (Pa.) next Wednesday, March 18.
