Field Hockey’s Season Ends at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown College field hockey team's season comes to an end in a 3-0 loss to #22 Scranton in the Landmark Conference semifinals. The team finishes the season 13-6, the most wins in a season since 2018.

The Royals got off to a quick start scoring two of their goals in the first quarter at the 5:38 and 9:37 mark.

The Blue Jays generated several scoring chances, with Hailey Meyer, Carly Schumacher, and Abbie Heckman each putting a shot on goal in the first quarter. Just three minutes in, Meyer drove a ball into the circle to Schumacher who was able to collect it and reverse but from a tight angle, it was saved.

The Blue Jays defense led by senior goalkeeper, Lily DeBlasio held the Royals offense to only five shots in the second and third quarters. The Blue Jays came out strong in the third quarter, controlling offensive possession and limiting the Royals' scoring opportunities.

In the 32nd minute, sophomore Calleigh Hoy created a scoring opportunity for the Blue Jays, but her shot went just wide of the goal.

Scranton added its third and final goal of the game with less than three minutes remaining to secure the, 3-0 win.
