Stanek Records 100th Career Block, #10 Juniata Hands Etown First Conference Loss

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — The Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team fell to No.10 Juniata in straight sets, 3-0, on Friday night at Memorial Gymnasium. The Eagles earned set victories of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-19 to remain unbeaten in Landmark Conference play.

Elizabethtown moved to 18-7 overall and 5-1 in conference action, while Juniata improved to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in the Landmark Conference.

On her third block of the night Lucy Stanek recorded her 100th career block. Stanek led the Blue Jays with eight kills, while Kinsey Reuwer added seven kills and hit .500. Tori Obarow contributed five kills and tied Stanek and Reuwer for the team lead with three block assists each.

The Blue Jays opened the match competitively, trading points with the Eagles early in the first set. However, Juniata built momentum as they rattled off nine straight points to pull away for a 25-13 win. Etown recorded seven kills in the opening frame but struggled to match the Eagles' offensive efficiency.

In the second set, the Blue Jays continued to battle but were unable to overcome Juniata's attack. Etown led early at 7-6 after five points in a row with help from Reuwer. After trading points through the rest of the set, Juniata finished on a 6-1 run to win, 25-19.

Elizabethtown showed its strongest offensive production in the third set, recording 12 kills and hitting .207. The Blue Jays started off set three with kills from Bailey McFeaters, Stanek, and Reuwer. Stanek kept pace with the Eagles as the Blue Jays just trailed by two. Four straight from Etown brought the score to 17-18 before the Eagles momentum took them to the end of the set to win, 25-19.

The Blue Jays will travel to Lycoming tomorrow for another Landmark Conference match.
