MADISON, NJ. -- The Elizabethtown field hockey team secured its fourth Landmark Conference win of the season with a 4-2 road victory over Drew. Three Blue Jays found the back of the net to help lead Etown to the win.
The Blue Jays got off to a quick start on the offensive side as sophomore Kaylie Noel found the back of the goal just 3:27 into the first quarter. On the first penalty corner of the night, Hailey Meyer inserted the ball to Caroline Hartley who sent a pass down to Noel on the right side of the circle. Noel smashed the ball behind the goalie, putting the Blue Jays on the board. Just over a minute later, Meyer recorded her second assist of the night, setting up Hannah Long's goal off a penalty corner. Long received the pass from Meyer, faked out the defender, and drove the ball down the circle and into the goal.
The Rangers responded with a goal at the 8:50 mark, cutting the Jays' lead to 2-1. Etown carried its momentum into the second quarter, earning a penalty stroke just 30 seconds into the period. Senior Mia Fino stepped up to the line and shot the ball high left, giving the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead.
Etown's offense continued possession of the ball for the remainder of the second quarter, finding the back of the goal one more time at the 25:31 mark. Sara Watson carried the ball into the circle along the baseline to find Long waiting on the goalie's pads. The senior gathered the ball and fired a shot past the goalie toward the far post, recording her second goal of the game. Off a penalty corner, Drew got their second goal, making the score 4-2 going into the halftime.
The second half remained scoreless as Etown controlled possession throughout both quarters and outshot the Rangers 12-3.
The Blue Jays continue Landmark Conference play on the road as they face off against Goucher on Saturday, October 24th at 2pm.
