NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team began its 2026 season on the road at third-ranked Christopher Newport on Friday. The Captains overpowered the Blue Jays, 17-4.
Reese Levinson had a pair of goals for Etown.
Christopher Newport led 6-0 after the first quarter.
After adding another to make it 7-0, that's when Levinson was finally able to crack the scoreboard for Elizabethtown. The junior netted consecutive goals at 6:34 and 5:11 to bring the Jays within five at 7-2, but that's the closest they'd be.
CNU scored three more times to take a 10-2 lead into halftime.
Casey Lamey scored his first Etown goal, unassisted, early in the third quarter.
Brent Wehland also added a goal for the Blue Jays in the third quarter.
Tristan Coleman had the assist on Wehland's first of the year.
Ben Zaitz got his first career start and made 17 saves for Elizabethtown.
The Jays will host St. Mary's (Md.) in their home opener at Wolf Field on Saturday, February 7.
