Yamamoto's PK holds up as men's soccer wins second straight

IMMACULATA, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team came away with their second straight win of the season and first on the road Monday night in their makeup contest at Immaculata. Gui Yamamoto's first-half penalty was all the Blue Jays needed in their victory over the Mighty Macs.

Elizabethtown was the more dangerous team throughout the first half, generating 14 shots to only four for Immaculata. Owen Auchenbach had the first scoring opportunity for the Jays in the fourth minute, but his effort was saved. Etown also had multiple shots blocked.

The Blue Jays were close to scoring in the 40th minute, but a foul in the box created a penalty kick situation in Elizabethtown's favor, the second straight game EC has been awarded a PK.

Just as he did against Penn State Berks this past Wednesday, Yamamoto converted from the spot for his second goal of the year to tie for the team lead.

The Mighty Macs managed to outshoot the Jays in the second half 7-5, but Pedro Miranda did not concede a goal and really wasn't tested. He was credited with six saves in the game.

Elizabethtown will host Stevenson on Wednesday, September 10, at 5 p.m.
