EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. -- Skylar Mumford's goal was the only one over 90 minutes as the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team won on the road at Wilkes to open Landmark Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Ella Smith made three of her game-high six saves in the first 17 minutes of the game to keep it scoreless.
Elizabethtown struck in the 27th minute as
Jenna Hoffmann fed her senior teammate for her team-leading fourth goal of the season to put the Jays up a goal.
Only one more shot found its way on target for the Colonels in the final 15 minutes of the first half and Smith was there to make the stop as Etown led 1-0 at the break.
Wilkes outshot EC 9-5 in the second half, but couldn't get one past Smith, who earned her third shutout of the season.
The Blue Jays have the midweek off before returning to play on Saturday, October 4, when they host Susquehanna on Homecoming Weekend at 1 p.m.
