COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- For the second straight game, sophomore goalie
Ella Smith did not allow a goal for the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team as they earned a second consecutive scoreless draw on the road. Etown and Ursinus finished 90 minutes level at 0-0.
Smith finished the game with five saves and made a fingertip save late in the game for the Blue Jays to keep it at 0-0.
Jenna Hoffmann and
Meghan McGonagle had chances in back-to-back minutes for Elizabethtown with less than 15 minutes to go in regulation. Both shots on goal were saved by Bears' goalie Mallory Toomey.
Ursinus pressed for a game-winner over the final 10 minutes. Smith made a diving save to her right in the 79th minute after the Jays were caught in possession, but the sophomore was able to keep the ball out.
Minutes later, a shot from the left wing came sailing in on goal. Smith reacted appropriately, going up and tipping the ball and pushing it off the crossbar and out of play.
The Bears did record three more shots in the final five minutes, but none were on target as the Jays left Patterson Field with another clean sheet.
Elizabethtown will host Penn State Berks on Saturday, September 20, at 1 p.m.
