Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Blue Jays, Mustangs end in scoreless draw

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Senior Jenna Hoffmann nearly had a game-winning goal in the final minutes of Saturday's non-conference matchup at Stevenson, but the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team and the Mustangs ended in a scoreless draw. Ella Smith was back in action and made six saves in goal for the Jays.

Elizabethtown had more of the possession in the first half, but were limited in testing Stevenson goalie Isabella Serano. The Blue Jays did lead 6-4 in shots. Sophie Shadle and Grace Tessier each had two shots, both of which were on goal.

Smith made two of her six saves in the first half.

Etown's best chance came late in the game in transition. The Jays quickly worked the ball down the right wing as Hoffmann launched a ball for Kayla Myer to run onto in the 87th minute. The sophomore cut back into the middle of the field, just outside the 18 yard box, and squared a ball to Hoffmann, who was trailing the play.

The senior sent a ball toward goal that slammed the crossbar and back out toward the top of the box. Her follow up was saved by Serano.

Elizabethtown will play at Ursinus on Wednesday, September 17, at 7:30 p.m.
