LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall reclaimed the Smith-Herr Boot trophy Saturday evening by defeating the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team 1-0 at Tylus Field.

After seeing the ball early on, F&M took control of the first half and eventually was able to grab the lead on a feed into the box that resulted in what would be the game's only goal.

The Diplomats had a plus-five advantage in shots through the opening 45 minutes.

The Blue Jays would find their feet in the second half and pushed to tie the game. Etown would outshoot their hosts 11-9 over the final 45 minutes.

Jude Ashley was inches, twice, from leveling up the match in the 76th minute. First, his floating attempt popped off the crossbar and back into the box. Ashley's follow up shot looked like it'd sneak in by the far post, but goalie Diego Moreno made a sprawling save to usher the ball out for a Jays' corner.

Elizabethtown had several set piece opportunities in the attacking third, including a handful of corners, but just couldn't get the equalizer to go.

F&M was able to get the ball up the field with under 30 seconds left and ran out the clock to win the rivalry game a season after the Blue Jays won the trophy on Herr Field in penalties.

Etown will play at Messiah on Wednesday, September 17, at 7:30 p.m.
