LANCASTER, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team's Landmark Conference Tournament run ended Saturday evening as they fell, 18-15 to Scranton before knocking out Wilkes, 8-6 earlier today.
Quinten Perilli became the new Landmark Conference career home run leader knocking his 30
th against Wilkes.
David Woolley hit his first career grand slam against Scranton which also helped him surpass 100 career RBIs.
WILKES 6, ELIZABETHTOWN 8
Perilli went 2-4 with two runs, a stolen base and four RBIs.
Alex Perrin went 3-4 with two runs, and a double.
Nick Fiorini went 2-3 with three runs.
The typical Elizabethtown baseball for the weekend was out in full force against Wilkes as they came from behind once again to win 8-6. Wilkes put up four runs in the third to start off with the lead. Etown tied up the game 4-4 in fifth on a sacrifice fly and a three-run homer from Perilli. The Colonels retook the lead in the sixth going up 6-4 before the Jays grabbed a 7-6 lead after the seventh. The Blue Jays sealed the 8-6 as
David Woolley hit a sacrifice fly for Etown's eighth and final run.
ELIZABETHTOWN 14 , SCRANTON 18
Elizabethtown saw Scranton jump to a 4-0 lead after the first. The Blue Jays responded with two in the bottom half of the inning. Perilli hit his second home run of the day to score two for Etown. The Jays got rolling in the second scoring seven runs on four hits which featured Woolley's first career grand slam. After two, Elizabethtown led 9-4.
The Royals tacked on five more runs in the fourth before Etown responded with three more to hold on to the lead at 12-9. Fiorini,
Joe Limongelli, and Perrin hit RBI-singles to account for the three runs. Scranton came within two in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch. Agriss plated two more runs with a single to left field to extend Etown's lead to 14-10. Scranton then got things going scoring a run in the sixth followed by six runs in the seventh to take over, leading 17-14. The Royals went on to score their final run in the ninth. Etown scored their final run in the ninth as well but it wasn't enough as the Blue Jays fell, 18-15.
The Blue Jays will await for their chance at an at-large bid in the NCAA selection show, Monday at 12:30 pm.
