WINCHESTER, Va.—The Elizabethtown baseball team closed out the regular season with a bang as they downed Shenandoah, 16-3.
Quinten Perilli went 2-2 with three runs, four RBIs, and a home run.
Sawyer Martin went 1-3 with two runs, five RBIs, and a grand slam.
RJ Agriss went 1-2 with a run, four RBIs, and a home run
Elizabethtown was off to a very strong start against Shenandoah as Perilli knocked a three-run homer early in the first inning. Etown went up 4-0 after a sacrifice fly to end the first. In the bottom half of the inning, the Hornets hit a solo home run to cut the Blue jays lead. The Blue Jays exploded in the second scoring four runs on four hits to jump to an 8-1 lead. With the bases loaded, Martin sent the ball over the fence to left center for his first career grand slam. Shenandoah added a run in the second to continue to trail Etown, 8-2.
The Blue Jays tacked on their ninth run in third on a wild pitch. In the fifth, Martin hit a sacrifice fly to bring the Blue Jays to double digits before Agriss hit a three-run homer, extending the Jays lead to 13-2. In the sixth, Etown scored two more via a walk and wild pitch. The Hornets scored their third in the bottom half of the inning. The Blue Jays scored on their third sacrifice fly of the game to win 16-3 in seven innings.
