ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team closed out their season with a sweep over Penn St.-Schuylkill. Before the match seniors,
Ethan Scott,
Ben Robbins,
Trey Weedon, and
Kyle McKiernan were honored.
Elizabethtown totaled 35 kills while hitting .329 for the match. The team tallied ten aces and six total blocks.
Ethan Scott led the team with nine kills, three assists, and two aces.
Trey Weedon totaled seven kills, six assists, and six digs.
Kyle McKiernan tallied 15 assists and four digs.
Elizabethtown opened up the first set with a 12-0 lead. Penn St.-Schuylkill grabbed two points before the Blue Jays jumped to a 17-2 lead after two straight aces from
Logan Smith. Etown ended the set on a 6-1 run to win 25-9.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a 10-3 lead to start after kills from Scott, Smith, and Weedon. Etown then rattled off four straight after kills from Scott, Robbins, and
Alan Lisman. The two teams traded points through the end of the set but the Jays lead was too large for the Lions. Elizabethtown took set two 25-15.
Etown again started off the set with a substantial lead. The Blue Jays led 10-4 early after a Robbins kill. After some back-n-forth Etown went on a 5-1 run which ended the set 25-17.
The Blue Jays end their season with a 17-11 overall record: their best in program history.
