Baseball Powers Past Juniata

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team's bats exploded across the opening doubleheader against Juniata, Saturday as the team totaled 30 hits. The Blue Jays defeated the Eagles, 13-8, 11-6. 

As a team the Blue Jays recorded a season-high of 17 hits in game two. 

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 13, JUNIATA 8 

Mason Woolwine went 2-3 with three runs, two RBIs, and a home run. Quinten Perilli went 2-4 with one run, and two RBIs. Tommy Kanakos went 2-3 with two runs while RJ Agriss went 1-2 with one run, three RBIs, and a double. 

Elizabethtown scored first in the second as Kanakos scored off a wild pitch. Etown extended their lead to 2-0 in the third after a solo shot by Woolwine. Juniata cut the Blue Jays lead to 2-1 after a solo shot of their own in the fourth inning. 

In the sixth, the Eagles took the lead 4-2 before the Blue Jays responded with an explosive seven run, six hit sixth inning. With an our, Kanakos singled to left field and then was brought home on Alex McClain's double to right field. Woolwine hit a RBI-single to score two which regained Etown's lead, 5-4. After a pitching change, Agriss smacked a 3-RBI double to left center before he would go on to score off Sawyer Martin's single. The Blue Jays would tack on four more runs in the seventh to jump to a 13-4 lead. 

Juniata got going in the eighth scoring four runs on six hits to come within five of Elizabethtown. Etown was able to shutdown the Eagles in the ninth to win, 13-8. 

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 11, JUNIATA 6

Agriss went 3-4 with a run, four RBI's and three doubles. Joe Limongelli went 3-5 with two runs, a double, a stolen base, and two RBIs. Alex Perrin went 3-3 with a run and a RBI. 

Juniata started off game two with a 2-0 early lead after an inning. In the second the Elizabethtown bats got going again scoring six runs on seven hits. Perrin bunted safely to bring home McClain who reach first via a double. Woolwine and Martin each hit a single to bring in three more runs as Etown led, 4-2. Agriss hit a double to center field to score Martin and Woolwine giving the Jays a 6-2 lead. 

In the fourth, Agriss hit his second double of the game to score Martin who reached on a fielder's choice. Limongelli stole home in the fifth inning to extend Etown's lead to 8-2. Juniata scored their third run in the sixth before the Blue Jays put up three more runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead, 11-3. The Eagles would go on to score one in the eighth and two more in the ninth. 

Elizabethtown and Juniata are back at it tomorrow, April 13 starting at 12 pm.
