ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Penn State Harrisburg swept the Elizabethtown College softball team in their home opening doubleheader at The Nest on Tuesday.
Jess Dunn had three RBIs on the day for the Jays.
GAME 1: PSH 10, ETOWN 8
The Lions scored four early runs in the first, but Elizabethtown got one back thanks to Dunn's RBI single to center to score
Hannah Long.
Penn State Harrisburg led 9-1 through four innings when the bats starting coming alive for the Blue Jays.
Nicole Cecconi scored safely as an error on the play allowed her to make it home.
Maddie Reever and Dunn each had RBI hits in the inning to make it a 9-5 game. Dunn doubled down the left field line to score Long and Reever.
Courtney Oliver's bunt scored
Kristen Aydelotte as the Jays were within three. The Lions scored once in the seventh.
Ali Williams singled to right center, scoring Dunn. Then, Aydelotte lofted a ball over the right fielder for a triple that plated Williams as Etown was within 10-8, but that's as close as they'd get.
GAME 2: PSH 5, ETOWN 0
Neither side managed a run through the first three innings until PSH struck in the fourth with two runs to grab a 2-0 lead.
They added three more in the fifth to make it 5-0.Â
Starting pitcher Kierstyn Smith scattered six hits over seven innings and didn't allow a run. Long,
Emma Dahl, Reever, Aydelotte,
Izzy Akelaitis, and Oliver each had hits in game two.
The Blue Jays will host Scranton on Saturday, March 22, at 1 and 3 p.m. for their conference opener.
